Manufacturing Procurement & Supply Chain Services
Sourcing, supplier risk, cost analysis and planning support for small and mid-size U.S. manufacturers, grounded in real aerospace supply chain experience.
Most small manufacturers don’t need a large consulting team. They need someone who can clean up the data, compare the quotes, see the risk in the supplier base and leave behind a process the team can run. I’ve worked in supply chain on the Pratt & Whitney F100 engine program and, through Statadventure, I build the Python and SQL tools that make this work repeatable.

What I help with
Every engagement starts with one concrete problem, such as a supplier you depend on too much, a cost you can’t explain or planning data you don’t trust. These are the areas I work in:
Strategic sourcing & supplier selection
Spend and category review, supplier long-lists, scorecards and site-visit or audit checklists, so the supplier you pick is chosen on total cost, quality, capacity and risk rather than the lowest quote alone.
RFQ/RFP & negotiation support
Clean RFQ packages, side-by-side quote comparison, clarification questions and negotiation preparation with clear walk-away positions. You make the final award decisions.
Supplier performance & risk
On-time delivery, quality and responsiveness tracked in one view, plus single-source and geographic concentration checks, dual-sourcing options and tariff and trade exposure by part and country of origin.
Cost-reduction analysis
Should-cost models, landed-cost comparisons (freight, duties, packaging, inventory carrying cost) and make-versus-buy or switch-supplier analysis, with assumptions written down so you can challenge them.
Inventory, S&OP & demand planning
Safety stock and reorder-point review, ABC analysis, a baseline forecast and a simple monthly sales and operations planning routine that connects sales, purchasing and production.
MRP/ERP & SAP data cleanup
Item masters, bills of material, lead times, lot sizes, vendor records and open purchase orders reviewed for errors that quietly distort planning, with a prioritized fix list.
Procurement process & policies
Purchase requisition and approval flow, supplier onboarding, sourcing thresholds and a practical purchasing policy sized for a small team.
Supplier quality & traceability
Incoming inspection plans, corrective-action tracking, certification and lot-traceability records, and supplier documentation your customers’ auditors can follow.
Custom Python & SQL tools
Spend cubes, supplier scorecards, landed-cost calculators and exception reports built through Statadventure, tested, documented and owned by you.
Who it’s for
- Small and mid-size U.S. manufacturers whose purchasing lives in spreadsheets, email and one person’s memory
- Owner-led shops adding customers, parts or suppliers faster than their processes can keep up
- Companies facing tariff, lead-time or single-source supplier risk who want a clear picture of their exposure
- Defense and aerospace suppliers who want stronger sourcing, supplier quality and traceability records (I don’t claim security clearances or government contracts)
If your situation isn’t on this list, the free call is the place to find out whether I can help. If someone else is a better fit, I’ll tell you.
How it works
- Free 30-minute call. We talk about your products, suppliers, systems and the problem costing you the most.
- Review. I look at the exports, spreadsheets and documents you choose to share and note data gaps and quick wins.
- Scope & quote. A written proposal with deliverables, timing and price. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- Analyze & build. Analysis, templates or tools in short steps with check-ins, and assumptions documented so you can test them.
- Hand over. Files, documentation, a simple routine and an owner on your team. Ongoing support is optional.
Pricing: every project is quoted after the free call, based on scope. Request a quote.
My background
I’m Peter Klausz, based in Burlington, Massachusetts. I hold an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School and two B.S. degrees from Syracuse University, in Supply Chain Management & Finance and in International Relations. Since 2018 I’ve run Statadventure, LLC, a consulting firm for small and mid-size manufacturers, and I build software in Python and SQL with AI-assisted development.
My supply chain experience includes work on the Pratt & Whitney F100 engine program. For custom tools, see Statadventure and its software development work. How I keep it honest
- No guaranteed savings: results depend on your parts, volumes, suppliers and market. No invented percentages or client numbers.
- You make the decisions: I analyze and recommend; supplier awards and contracts are yours.
- Defense work, plainly stated: I don’t claim security clearances or government contracts, and I won’t handle controlled information.
- Your data stays yours: I use the minimum data needed and follow your confidentiality terms.
- Scope in writing before work starts. No legal, customs, tax or accounting advice; I’ll point you to a specialist when needed.

Frequently asked questions
What do manufacturing procurement and supply chain services include?
They cover the work between a purchase decision and a part on your dock: sourcing, quoting, supplier performance and risk, cost analysis, inventory and planning, ERP data quality, procurement policies and supplier quality. We pick the pieces that matter most to you on a free call.
Do you guarantee cost savings?
No. Savings depend on your parts, volumes, suppliers and market. I agree what will be measured up front, show my assumptions, and report honestly on what the analysis found, including when current suppliers are already competitive.
Can you help with tariff and trade exposure?
Yes, as an operations analysis: mapping parts and suppliers by country of origin, estimating landed-cost impact under different duty scenarios and identifying dual-sourcing options. For classification, valuation and compliance rulings you’ll need a customs broker or trade attorney, and I’ll say so.
Do you work with defense and aerospace suppliers?
Yes, on commercial sourcing, supplier quality, traceability and planning work. I have supply chain experience on the Pratt & Whitney F100 engine program, but I don’t claim any security clearance or government contract, and I won’t handle controlled information.
Do you work inside our ERP or SAP system?
I typically work from exports and reports you provide, which keeps your live system untouched. I review the data, document the problems and give you a fix list your team or ERP administrator can apply.
Can you build tools for us?
Yes. Through Statadventure I build custom Python and SQL tools such as spend analyses, scorecards and landed-cost calculators. The code and documentation are yours.
Is the work remote or on site?
Mostly remote. I’m based in Burlington, Massachusetts, and on-site visits in the Boston area can be arranged when they help.
How much does it cost?
Every project is quoted after a free 30-minute call, based on scope. You’ll receive a written proposal with deliverables, timing and price before any work starts.
